The DAIHO Schenk company, supplier of components and parts to leading world manufacturers in automotive and electro-technical industries, decided to make its production more efficient and to employ the SAP system within its whole enterprise. It chose the AIMTEC company to provide assistance in implementation of the AIMTEC’s original SappyCar solution, including the integration with the ClouEDI product enabling electronic communication in a form of service. AIMTEC has implemented its own template that covers special needs of the automotive industry suppliers and offers various process scenarios. The template setting has been modified according to actual requirements of the DAIHO Schenk company. This implementation has brought to DAIHO Schenk a flexible tool for precise planning and management of production and logistical flows, as well as for EDI communication with customers and suppliers.
SappyCar and ClouEDI implementation
The DAIHO Schenk company, registered office in Liberec, was trying to find answers to their needs related to monitoring of production data, scheduling of purchases, and management of material flows. They aimed at collection and processing of data in one place, i.e. at replacement of several existing systems with a single one. The answer came from the AIMTEC company, which offered its own product called SappyCar. It is a predefined template for the SAP enterprise system, which keeps the door open for further additional features. The solution reflects specific requirements of the automotive industry suppliers. Among the main requirements there was an automatic management of material flows, including backward traceability, and support of supplier concepts and electronic data exchange (connection to EDI). SappyCar provided advanced features for management and planning of production, warehouse, internal and external logistics, options in the area of sales, finances, controlling, reporting, assets, and book keeping. Electronic data exchange has been secured using integration with the ClouEDI tool, which represents a service for electronic communication in the area of automotive industry. The solution supports all standards and platforms; communication in the VDA and EDIFACT formats, communication with customers and suppliers, long term and short term call-offs, the ASN electronic delivery note, and electronic invoices including the self-billing option. The DAIHO Schenk company communicates, among others, with customers like companies from the BMW group, Daimler, YANFENG, Mahle Behr, Fehrer, Bosch, or MIELE.
Benefits of the SappyCar and ClouEDI implementation
The DAIHO Schenk company has got, by implementing the solution from the AIMTEC company, precise, detailed, and complete information about material flows in real time. All production and logistical data are kept and centralized in a single information system. Gathered information provides the company with support at purchase planning, monitoring and managing production in progress as well as final products. The company has an integrated financial, book keeping, reporting, and controlling system, which offers options how to trace profitability of projects, products and customers, costs and other parameters. The system allows making scheduled changes, like organizational changes or support of new customers and projects. Advantage of ClouEDI is that electronic data exchange is provided in a form of service and DAIHO Schenk does not have to take care of related infrastructure and to bear any extra costs for internal information technology. This whole project was finished in summer 2016. At present, the same system is being implemented in the mother company in Plzeň.
